Senior Property Financial Accountant

A well-established organisation within the property sector is looking for a Senior Property Financial Accountant to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working with complex reconciliations, financial reporting, budgeting and property-level financial analysis.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the financial records across the property portfolio, while providing meaningful financial insights to management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage monthly accounting and month-end processes across allocated properties.
• Prepare and post financial journals, accruals and reallocations.
• Review and analyse General Ledger and Balance Sheet movements.
• Prepare balance sheet and intercompany loan reconciliations.
• Investigate and resolve intercompany discrepancies and calculate interest.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, including Income Statements and Balance Sheets.
• Perform actual vs budget variance analysis per property.
• Prepare cash balance reports and support cash flow forecasting.
• Manage the fixed asset register, including capitalisation, depreciation and disposals.
• Prepare supporting schedules for tax submissions and year-end audits.
• Liaise with external auditors and resolve audit queries.
• Assist with quarterly Board reporting and covenant reporting.
• Prepare annual property budgets and supporting schedules.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiencies.
• Provide ad hoc financial support and contribute to finance projects as required.

Job Experience and Skills Required:

• BCom Accounting degree
• Completed articles (SAIPA / SAICA)
• Minimum 4 years' experience in an Accountant / Financial Accountant role.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills practical proficiency is essential.
• Strong experience in reconciliations, General Ledger accounting and financial analysis.
• In-depth understanding of intercompany loans and interest calculations .
• Property accounting experience is highly advantageous .
• Experience with MDA Property Management / Accounting software is advantageous.
