Remote Electrical Engineer - Renewable Energy

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly motivated Remote Electrical Engineer with a strong background in Renewable Energy systems to support their projects originating from Stellenbosch, Western Cape. This role involves the electrical design, performance analysis, and integration of solar, wind, and other renewable energy solutions. You will work as part of a globally distributed team, contributing to the planning and execution of sustainable energy projects that aim to make a significant impact. This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in a remote setting, values autonomy, and is passionate about advancing the renewable energy sector. You will collaborate with project managers, site engineers, and stakeholders to deliver innovative and efficient energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and engineer electrical systems for renewable energy projects, including solar PV farms and wind energy installations.
• Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and electrical performance analyses for new projects.
• Develop detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and equipment specifications for inverters, transformers, and grid connections.
• Ensure compliance with grid codes, regulatory standards, and safety protocols applicable to renewable energy installations.
• Provide remote technical support during the construction, commissioning, and operational phases of projects.
• Collaborate with procurement teams on equipment selection and supplier management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with a focus on power systems or renewable energy.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in the electrical design and engineering of renewable energy projects.
• Proficiency with electrical design software and simulation tools relevant to renewable energy systems (e.g., PVSyst, Helioscope, ETAP).
• Strong understanding of power electronics, grid integration, and energy storage systems.
• Familiarity with international and local standards for renewable energy systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
