Telecommunications Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Telecommunications Technician to join their team in Klerksdorp . You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications systems, including voice, data, and video networks. This role demands a strong understanding of telecommunications hardware, cabling, and network infrastructure. You will work on-site to ensure reliable connectivity for clients and contribute to the upkeep of critical communication systems. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adept at troubleshooting complex network issues, and committed to providing high-quality service in a field-based capacity.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, test, and maintain telecommunication cabling systems (fiber optic, copper).
• Troubleshoot and repair issues related to voice and data networks, including routers, switches, and modems.
• Perform site surveys and recommend appropriate telecommunications solutions.
• Install and configure telecommunication equipment such as PBX systems, VoIP phones, and network access points.
• Ensure all installations and repairs meet industry standards and client specifications.
• Maintain accurate records of installations, service calls, and equipment inventory.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Telecommunications Technician or similar role.
• Solid knowledge of telecom cabling standards (TIA/EIA) and network protocols.
• Experience with fiber optic splicing and testing equipment.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting network connectivity and hardware issues.
• Ability to read and interpret network diagrams and technical documentation.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work independently on-site.
