Senior Exploration Geologist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Exploration Geologist to join their dedicated exploration team in the Upington, Northern Cape region. This role is critical for identifying and evaluating new mineral prospects, managing exploration programs, and contributing to the company's resource pipeline. You will lead field teams, interpret complex geological data, and work closely with other disciplines to advance projects from grass-roots exploration through to resource definition. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a geologically diverse area and apply advanced exploration techniques to potentially discover significant new orebodies.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, and execute comprehensive geological exploration programs, including reconnaissance, target generation, and drilling campaigns.
• Conduct detailed geological mapping, structural analysis, and rock chip sampling to define prospective areas.
• Interpret geophysical and geochemical data to identify and prioritize drilling targets.
• Log drill core and chip samples, collect assay data, and integrate this information into geological models.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for senior management and investment committees.
• Mentor junior geologists and field technicians, fostering a high-performance exploration culture.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology or a related earth science discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in mineral exploration, with a strong track record in discovery or significant resource delineation.
• Expertise in structural geology, igneous and metamorphic petrology, and mineral systems.
• Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, Vulcan) and GIS applications.
• Experience with various exploration techniques, including geophysics, geochemistry, and remote sensing.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
