Remote Menu Planner - Food Service

About the Role

Our client, a national food service provider, is seeking a talented Remote Menu Planner to design and curate appealing and cost-effective menus for their various catering contracts across the country. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute your culinary expertise from anywhere. You will be responsible for developing diverse menu options that cater to different dietary needs, preferences, and cultural backgrounds, while ensuring compliance with nutritional guidelines and budget constraints. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of food trends, nutritional science, and the operational realities of large-scale food service.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop innovative and diverse menu plans for corporate, institutional, and event catering, considering nutritional balance, seasonality, and cost-effectiveness.
• Research and incorporate current food trends, popular ingredients, and diverse culinary influences into menu creations.
• Ensure all menu items comply with relevant food safety, hygiene, and nutritional standards.
• Collaborate with procurement teams to source high-quality, cost-effective ingredients and manage food cost percentages.
• Create detailed recipe specifications and preparation guidelines for kitchen teams to ensure consistency in execution.
• Analyze feedback from clients and operational teams to continually refine and improve menu offerings.

Requirements

• Proven experience in menu planning, culinary development, or a related role within the food service or catering industry.
• Strong knowledge of nutrition, dietary requirements (e.g., vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free), and food safety principles.
• Excellent research skills to stay updated on food trends and industry best practices.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects remotely, meeting deadlines consistently.
• Proficiency in using menu planning software and standard office productivity tools.
• A creative mindset with a passion for food and a strong understanding of flavour profiles.
