About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and organized Special Education Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to lead their student support services in Upington . This leadership role is critical in ensuring that students with special educational needs receive appropriate support to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. You will oversee the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), liaise with parents and external professionals, and guide a team of support staff. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor the school's Special Educational Needs (SEN) policy and provision.
- Coordinate the identification and assessment of students with special educational needs, ensuring timely intervention.
- Oversee the creation and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for all eligible students.
- Liaise effectively with parents, external agencies, and other professionals involved in a student's care and education.
- Provide guidance and support to teaching staff on effective strategies for supporting students with diverse needs.
Requirements
- A recognized teaching qualification and a postgraduate qualification or extensive experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Proven experience in coordinating SEN provision or a similar leadership role within an educational setting.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices in special education.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage a caseload, lead a team, and foster collaborative working relationships.
