Legal Advisor - Contracts

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Legal Advisor specializing in contract law to join their team in Stellenbosch . This role is crucial for managing and safeguarding the company's contractual relationships and obligations. You will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide array of commercial contracts, ensuring they align with the company's strategic goals and mitigate legal risks. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of contract lifecycle management and a proactive approach to legal problem-solving within a commercial context, providing essential support to various business units and contributing to robust contractual frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, NDAs, and partnership agreements.
• Provide legal advice on contract interpretation, disputes, and termination clauses.
• Develop and maintain standard contract templates and playbooks.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and company policies related to contractual obligations.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand contractual needs and provide practical legal solutions.

Requirements

• LLB degree or equivalent, admitted as an Attorney or Advocate.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience focused on commercial contract law.
• Proven expertise in drafting and negotiating complex agreements.
• Strong understanding of South African contract law principles.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills, with a client-focused approach.
