Senior Geophysicist - Seismic Data Analysis

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Senior Geophysicist to join their exploration and geoscience department based in Polokwane . This role is vital for analyzing seismic data to identify and characterize potential hydrocarbon reservoirs, directly supporting the company's exploration efforts in the Oil & Gas industry . You will employ advanced geophysical techniques, integrate seismic data with other geological information, and provide critical insights to guide exploration decisions. Key Responsibilities

• Process, interpret, and quality control seismic data (2D/3D/4D) to identify geological structures and stratigraphic features.
• Perform amplitude variation with offset (AVO) analysis, seismic attribute analysis, and inversion techniques.
• Integrate seismic interpretations with well log, core, and geological data to build robust subsurface models.
• Collaborate closely with geologists and reservoir engineers to de-risk prospects and optimize exploration strategies.
• Prepare comprehensive geophysical reports, maps, and presentations for internal stakeholders and management.
• Stay updated with and evaluate new geophysical technologies and workflows relevant to the Oil & Gas sector.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geophysics, Physics, or a related Earth Science field.
• Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in exploration geophysics, primarily within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proficiency with industry-standard seismic interpretation and processing software (e.g., Petrel, HampsonRussell, OpendTect).
• Strong understanding of seismic wave propagation, data acquisition, processing, and interpretation principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
