Senior Geologist - Remote Exploration

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Geologist to join their dynamic exploration team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa. You will play a pivotal role in identifying and evaluating new mineral prospects, contributing significantly to the company's strategic growth and resource acquisition efforts. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of geological principles and advanced exploration techniques, with a proven track record of success in remote-based project contributions. You will collaborate with a dispersed team of geoscientists and engineers, leveraging digital tools and communication platforms to achieve project milestones.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geological mapping, data analysis, and interpretation for mineral exploration projects.
• Develop and implement exploration strategies and drilling programs based on prospectivity analysis.
• Manage and interpret geophysical and geochemical data sets to define drill targets.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports, resource estimations, and geological models.
• Collaborate remotely with a global team of geologists, geophysicists, and data scientists.
• Stay abreast of new exploration technologies and methodologies, recommending their adoption where appropriate.

Requirements

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geology or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mineral exploration , with a focus on greenfields exploration.
• Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, Vulcan) and GIS applications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an excellent understanding of structural geology and ore deposit genesis.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and autonomously in a remote work environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex geological concepts clearly.
