Information Security Analyst - Threat Detection

About the Role

Our client is seeking a vigilant and skilled Information Security Analyst specializing in threat detection to join their team in Polokwane . This role is critical for identifying, analyzing, and responding to security threats and incidents that could impact the organization. You will be responsible for monitoring security systems, investigating potential breaches, and implementing measures to strengthen the company's defense against cyber-attacks. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a proactive mindset, and a strong understanding of common threat vectors and detection techniques.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events using SIEM tools to detect potential security threats and intrusions.
• Analyze security logs and data to identify patterns, anomalies, and indicators of compromise (IoCs).
• Investigate security incidents, determine their scope and impact, and assist in the response and remediation efforts.
• Develop and refine detection rules and signatures to improve threat identification capabilities.
• Stay current with the latest threat intelligence, malware trends, and attack methodologies.
• Collaborate with other security team members to enhance overall security posture.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2-4 years of experience in information security , with a focus on threat detection, incident response, or security operations (SOC).
• Proficiency with SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, ELK stack) and other security monitoring tools.
• Understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and common attack vectors.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, GIAC, or equivalent are a plus.
