About the Role

Our client is seeking a specialized Automation Mechanical Engineer to join their industrial operations team in Durban . This role is critical for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated mechanical systems and machinery that enhance production efficiency and safety. You will be instrumental in optimizing manufacturing processes through innovative mechanical automation solutions. Working closely with a dedicated team of engineers and technicians, you will contribute to the company's reputation for operational excellence and technological advancement in the KwaZulu-Natal region.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and integrate custom mechanical automation systems for manufacturing processes.
• Specify and select mechanical components such as motors, actuators, sensors, and robotics for automated solutions.
• Collaborate with controls engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems with PLC and HMI interfaces.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical failures in automated equipment, minimizing downtime.
• Conduct performance testing and validation of new automation systems to meet project objectives.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including schematics, manuals, and maintenance procedures.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Proven experience in the design and implementation of industrial automation systems .
• Knowledge of robotics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and servo systems.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software for mechanical design.
• Experience with PLC integration and industrial communication protocols is advantageous.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
