Installation Technician - Industrial Equipment

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and reliable Installation Technician to join their operations team in Durban . This role involves the professional installation and initial setup of industrial equipment at client sites, ensuring everything is configured correctly and ready for operation. While some on-site work is essential, this position offers a hybrid model, allowing for planning and coordination from a central office or home base. You will play a vital role in ensuring that our clients receive state-of-the-art equipment that is expertly installed and functioning optimally from day one, contributing to the company's reputation for precision and efficiency in the KwaZulu-Natal region.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform on-site installation of industrial machinery and associated systems according to detailed project plans and technical specifications.
• Conduct pre-installation checks, ensuring all necessary tools, parts, and site requirements are met.
• Test and commission newly installed equipment, verifying full functionality and adherence to performance standards.
• Provide initial operational guidance and basic troubleshooting to client personnel post-installation.
• Maintain meticulous records of installation activities, including progress reports, checklists, and any encountered issues.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure timely and successful project completion.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in installing complex mechanical or electrical equipment, preferably in an industrial setting.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and installation manuals.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand and power tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction during the installation phase.
• Willingness to travel within the Durban area and occasional overnight stays as required by project schedules.
