About the Role
Our client is actively recruiting for a skilled Mine Geologist to join their operational team in Benoni . This position is essential for providing geological support to production teams, ensuring that mining activities are aligned with geological models and resource continuity. You will be responsible for detailed geological mapping of mine workings, core logging, and updating geological models based on new data from production faces. The successful candidate will play a critical role in optimizing grade control, reconciliation, and resource delineation, contributing directly to the profitability and efficiency of the underground mining operation in the Gauteng region , working closely with mine engineers and mine managers to ensure safe and effective extraction.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed geological mapping of underground mine workings and develop structural interpretations.
- Log diamond drill core and blast hole samples to update geological and grade models.
- Monitor and control grade and geological variations encountered during mining operations.
- Perform geological reconciliation between planned and actual mining results.
- Assist in the estimation of ore reserves and contribute to short-term mine planning.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and geological standards in all field activities.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's or Honours degree in Geology or Earth Sciences.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Mine Geologist , preferably in underground hard-rock mining.
- Proficiency with geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog Mining, Vulcan).
- Strong understanding of structural geology and ore deposit characteristics relevant to the region.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail for accurate data collection.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with production personnel.
