In-House Legal Counsel

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and versatile In-House Legal Counsel to provide strategic legal support to their operations based in Rustenburg . This role is crucial for navigating the complex legal landscape of the mining and resources sector. You will be responsible for a broad spectrum of legal duties, including contract management, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced corporate environment, possess strong analytical skills, and demonstrate the ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice, working remotely to support a leading enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, draft, and negotiate contracts and agreements related to the company's operations and supply chain.
• Advise on compliance with mining regulations, environmental laws, and other industry-specific legislation.
• Manage and resolve legal disputes, including arbitration and litigation, if necessary.
• Conduct legal due diligence for potential investments and partnerships.
• Develop and implement legal policies and procedures to ensure corporate governance.
• Provide legal support for human resources matters and employment law issues.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney with at least 6 years of post-qualification experience, preferably with in-house or firm experience in the mining sector.
• Solid understanding of corporate law , contract law, and regulatory compliance in South Africa.
• Experience with environmental law and mining-specific legislation is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a remote team, demonstrating proactivity and sound judgment.
• Strong organizational skills and the capacity to manage competing priorities effectively.
