Farm Manager - Mixed Operations

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Farm Manager to oversee their diverse agricultural operations in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal . This hybrid role requires a hands-on leader capable of managing both crop cultivation and livestock activities, ensuring optimal productivity and profitability. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the farm, including resource allocation, staff supervision, and implementation of best practices. This is a key leadership position within a growing agricultural business, offering the chance to implement innovative strategies and contribute to the company's success, while enjoying a balance of on-site and remote responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise all aspects of crop production, including planting, irrigation, pest control, and harvesting.
• Manage livestock operations, ensuring animal health, welfare, and efficient feeding programs.
• Develop and manage the farm's budget, controlling expenses and maximizing revenue.
• Oversee and train farm workers, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational standards.
• Maintain farm equipment and infrastructure, coordinating repairs and maintenance as needed.
• Implement sustainable farming practices to ensure long-term soil health and environmental compliance.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Farm Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in farm management, preferably in a mixed farming environment.
• Strong knowledge of crop science, animal husbandry, and farm machinery.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Ability to manage budgets and operational resources effectively.
• Proficiency in farm management software and standard office applications.
