Drainage Civil Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Drainage Civil Engineer to join their team based in Benoni . This role is critical for the design and implementation of effective stormwater management systems, flood control measures, and urban drainage solutions across various projects in Gauteng . You will be responsible for analyzing hydrological data, designing appropriate drainage infrastructure, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. The successful candidate will be passionate about sustainable water management and contribute to resilient urban development.

Key Responsibilities

• Design comprehensive stormwater drainage systems, including open channels, culverts, and detention/retention ponds.
• Conduct hydrological analyses, flood risk assessments, and hydraulic modeling for proposed developments.
• Prepare detailed design drawings, calculations, and specifications for drainage infrastructure.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant municipal bylaws, national standards, and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with land developers, urban planners, and construction teams to integrate drainage solutions seamlessly.
• Perform site investigations and surveys to gather necessary data for design purposes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional registration with ECSA is preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience focused on drainage and stormwater engineering.
• Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM) and AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
• Strong understanding of hydrological principles and South African drainage design standards.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
