Costume Designer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly creative and experienced Costume Designer to join their Arts & Entertainment team. This is a fully remote position, offering the chance to design visually compelling costumes for theatre, film, and performance art from anywhere. You will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and overseeing the creation of costumes that define character, support the narrative, and enhance the overall aesthetic of productions. The ideal candidate is a visionary with exceptional artistic talent, a strong understanding of historical and contemporary fashion, and excellent remote collaboration skills. You will bring characters to life through innovative and impactful costume design.

Key Responsibilities

• Conceptualize and design costumes that align with the artistic vision of directors and production teams.
• Create detailed sketches, fabric swatches, and technical drawings for all costume pieces.
• Source appropriate fabrics, trims, and materials, managing budgets effectively.
• Collaborate with wardrobe staff, seamstresses, and technicians to ensure high-quality execution of costume designs.
• Conduct research into historical periods, character archetypes, and thematic elements relevant to each production.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Costume Design, Fashion Design, Theater Arts, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a Costume Designer, with a robust portfolio showcasing diverse projects within the Arts & Entertainment industry.
• Proficiency in sketching, pattern making, and knowledge of various garment construction techniques.
• Strong understanding of textiles, color theory, and visual storytelling through clothing.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, adept at working with remote teams.
