Production Chemist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Production Chemist to join their team in Soweto . This role is integral to optimizing the chemical processes involved in oil and gas production and refining. You will be responsible for analyzing production samples, developing and implementing chemical treatment programs, and troubleshooting operational issues related to fluid properties and chemical interactions. Your expertise will ensure efficient operations and product quality within the Oil & Gas sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze crude oil, natural gas, and water samples to determine composition and properties.
• Develop and implement chemical injection strategies for production optimization and asset integrity.
• Monitor the effectiveness of chemical treatments and adjust as necessary.
• Troubleshoot production issues related to emulsions, scaling, corrosion, and paraffin deposition.
• Collaborate with production engineers and operations teams to resolve challenges.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure adherence to quality control standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Production Chemist or in a similar role within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Strong understanding of hydrocarbon chemistry, fluid properties, and analytical techniques.
• Experience with production chemicals and their application in upstream and midstream operations.
• Proficiency in laboratory analysis and data interpretation.
• Good problem-solving and communication skills.
