Apprentice Bricklayer

About the Role

Begin your journey in the construction industry as an Apprentice Bricklayer with our client in Port Elizabeth. This program offers hands-on training in the fundamental skills of bricklaying, block laying, and masonry work. You will learn to prepare foundations, mix mortar, lay bricks and blocks according to plans, and finish structures to a high standard. Working under the supervision of skilled bricklayers, you'll gain practical experience on various construction sites, contributing to the development of buildings and infrastructure, and laying the groundwork for a successful trade career.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist experienced bricklayers in preparing mortar and carrying materials to the worksite.
• Learn to set out lines and levels for brick courses and ensure they are plumb and true.
• Practice laying bricks and blocks in various patterns and bonding techniques.
• Assist with the construction of walls, partitions, chimneys, and other masonry structures.
• Clean and maintain tools and equipment, keeping the work area tidy.
• Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations on construction sites.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older with a Grade 12 education or equivalent.
• A genuine interest in masonry and construction trades.
• Good physical strength and stamina, with the ability to work outdoors in various conditions.
• Manual dexterity and attention to detail for precise work.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions from supervisors.
• Reliable and punctual for work in and around Port Elizabeth.
