Data Scientist - Big Data Analytics

About the Role

Our client, a leader in the energy sector, is looking for a talented Data Scientist to join their innovative team in Richards Bay . Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement advanced statistical and machine learning models to address business challenges.


• Collect, clean, and preprocess large, diverse datasets from various sources.


• Analyze complex data to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies, translating findings into actionable insights.


• Design and conduct experiments to test hypotheses and validate model performance.


• Communicate complex findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.


• Collaborate with engineering teams to deploy models into production environments and monitor their performance.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.


• Proven experience as a Data Scientist with a strong portfolio of predictive modeling and machine learning projects.


• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R , and experience with data manipulation libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy).


• Experience with big data technologies such as Spark , Hadoop, and SQL/NoSQL databases.


• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and techniques.


• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
