Senior Reservoir Engineer - Gas & Oil

About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the conventional energy sector, is seeking a highly analytical Senior Reservoir Engineer for their operations in Nelspruit . This role is crucial for maximizing hydrocarbon recovery from oil and gas fields through advanced reservoir characterization and simulation. You will be responsible for developing and implementing production strategies, forecasting reserves, and evaluating new development opportunities. This is a challenging, on-site position offering the chance to work with complex geological formations and contribute significantly to the company's upstream success.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine reservoir models using specialized simulation software.
• Analyze production data, pressure surveys, and well logs to understand reservoir behavior.
• Formulate and execute strategies for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and gas production optimization.
• Prepare detailed reserve reports and production forecasts for management and regulatory bodies.
• Evaluate and recommend drilling locations and completion strategies for new wells.
• Collaborate with geologists, drilling engineers, and production engineers to achieve field development objectives.

Requirements

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in reservoir engineering, with a strong background in oil and gas exploration and production.
• Proven expertise in reservoir simulation software (e.g., ECLIPSE, PETREL RE).
• Strong understanding of petrophysics, sedimentology, and fluid flow in porous media.
• Experience with decline curve analysis, material balance calculations, and volumetric assessments.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
