About the Role
Our client is seeking a vigilant Safety Officer to oversee and enforce safety standards across their site operations in the Mahikeng area. This role is essential for ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel, identifying potential hazards, implementing preventive measures, and responding to any incidents. You will be responsible for promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation within the Oil & Gas sector. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and risks.
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety procedures and policies.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, reporting findings and recommending corrective actions.
- Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to site personnel.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain safety records and documentation.
Requirements
- National Diploma or equivalent in Safety Management or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience as a Safety Officer, preferably in industrial or construction environments.
- Knowledge of relevant safety legislation and best practices in the Oil & Gas industry.
- Proficiency in hazard identification and risk assessment techniques.
- Strong communication, reporting, and training skills.
- Ability to work independently and enforce safety rules effectively.
