Senior Transportation Engineer - Urban Planning
About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Transportation Engineer to spearhead urban planning and transportation infrastructure projects in Stellenbosch . This role involves the strategic planning, design, and implementation of transportation networks that enhance mobility, safety, and sustainability within urban environments. You will collaborate closely with municipal planners, developers, and community stakeholders to shape the future of transportation in the region. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of transportation master plans, traffic impact studies, and infrastructure design projects.
- Analyze traffic data, model transportation networks, and propose solutions for congestion management and safety improvements.
- Design road networks, intersections, public transport facilities, and active transport infrastructure (cycling and pedestrian paths).
- Ensure designs comply with transportation engineering standards and urban planning policies.
- Liaise with government agencies, developers, and community groups to ensure project alignment and buy-in.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical growth of the transportation team.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering, with a specialization in Transportation Engineering or Urban Planning.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in transportation engineering and urban mobility planning.
- Proficiency in traffic modeling software (e.g., VISSIM, SIDRA INTERSECTION) and GIS tools.
- Strong understanding of traffic engineering principles, network analysis, and public transport planning.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and public consultation processes.
- Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) registration is highly advantageous.
