Chief Compliance Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned and strategic Chief Compliance Officer to lead and oversee all compliance-related functions for their expanding operations in Pretoria . This executive role is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and enforcing a robust compliance program that adheres to all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies within the Banking & Finance industry. You will play a critical role in mitigating legal and regulatory risks, fostering an ethical corporate culture, and ensuring the integrity of the organization's operations. This position requires strong leadership, in-depth regulatory knowledge, and excellent communication skills to engage effectively with regulators, management, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive compliance program across the organization.
• Interpret and advise on the impact of new and existing laws and regulations on the business.
• Oversee internal investigations, compliance audits, and risk assessments.
• Establish and maintain effective communication channels with regulatory bodies.
• Develop and deliver compliance training programs for all employees.
• Ensure the company's adherence to ethical standards and foster a culture of compliance.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) or Master's degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in legal, compliance, or risk management roles, preferably within financial services.
• Extensive knowledge of banking regulations (e.g., FAIS, FIC Act, POPIA) and international compliance standards.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing effective compliance programs and policies.
• Strong leadership, strategic planning, and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
