Community Health Educator

About the Role

Our client is seeking a passionate Community Health Educator to serve the Mossel Bay area. This vital role focuses on promoting healthy lifestyles and disease prevention within the community through education, awareness campaigns, and the dissemination of health information. You will develop and deliver engaging health programs tailored to various community groups, conduct needs assessments, and collaborate with local clinics and organizations to improve health outcomes. This position offers a unique opportunity to directly influence community well-being and empower individuals to make informed decisions about their health in a hands-on, community-focused capacity.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement health education programs and materials for diverse audiences.
• Conduct community health needs assessments to identify priorities and target populations.
• Deliver health promotion workshops and presentations on various health topics.
• Collaborate with local clinics, NGOs, and community leaders to coordinate health initiatives.
• Distribute health information and resources to raise awareness about preventable diseases.
• Evaluate program effectiveness and report on outcomes to stakeholders.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Public Health, Health Promotion, Nursing, or a related field.
• Experience in community health education or public health programs.
• Strong knowledge of health promotion strategies and behavior change theories.
• Excellent presentation, facilitation, and communication skills .
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the Mossel Bay region.
