About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and proactive Mine Health and Safety Officer to support their operations near Nelspruit . This role is critical in ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel by developing, implementing, and enforcing health and safety policies and procedures. You will conduct regular inspections, identify potential hazards, investigate incidents, and promote a strong safety culture throughout the mine site. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of mining legislation and a passion for promoting workplace safety in the Mpumalanga region.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of mining operations and facilities.
- Identify and assess workplace hazards and implement control measures.
- Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, and recommend corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver health and safety training programs to employees.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant mine health and safety legislation and regulations.
- Maintain accurate health and safety records and prepare required reports.
Requirements
- National Diploma in Safety Management or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Safety Officer in the mining industry.
- Registered with a relevant professional body (e.g., SAIOSH).
- Thorough knowledge of South African mine health and safety legislation (MHSA).
- Strong understanding of risk assessment and hazard identification techniques.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and training skills.
