Senior Network Engineer - Network Security

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Network Engineer with a specialization in Network Security to join their dedicated IT infrastructure team in Soweto . This role is pivotal in designing, implementing, and maintaining a secure, reliable, and high-performance network infrastructure that supports the organization's critical operations. You will be responsible for safeguarding network assets, responding to security incidents, and implementing advanced security measures. Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Implement and maintain robust network security measures, including intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) and access controls.
• Monitor network performance and security, identifying and resolving potential issues proactively.
• Develop and document network architecture, standards, and procedures.
• Respond to network security incidents, performing analysis and implementing corrective actions.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure network infrastructure meets the needs of the business.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in network engineering, with a strong focus on network security.
• Proficiency with networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF) and network hardware from leading vendors.
• Experience with firewall management, VPN configuration, and network security best practices.
• Knowledge of network monitoring tools and security assessment techniques.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CISSP are highly desirable.
