About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the automotive industry in Pretoria , is seeking a talented Automotive Performance Engineer to join their advanced engineering department. This role focuses on enhancing vehicle performance through the design, testing, and implementation of innovative engineering solutions. You will be instrumental in pushing the boundaries of vehicle dynamics, engine efficiency, and overall driving experience. The successful candidate will work within a cutting-edge facility, collaborating with a team of dedicated engineers to develop next-generation automotive technologies and bring them from concept to production.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop performance-oriented engine and powertrain components.
• Conduct rigorous testing and data acquisition on vehicle performance in real-world and simulated environments.
• Analyze test data to identify areas for improvement and optimize performance parameters.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure manufacturability and quality of performance components.
• Develop and refine engine control unit (ECU) software for optimal performance and efficiency.
• Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in automotive performance engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• Significant experience in automotive performance engineering , powertrain development, or vehicle dynamics.
• Proficiency with simulation software (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, GT-SUITE) and data acquisition systems.
• Strong understanding of internal combustion engines, thermodynamics, and vehicle dynamics.
• Experience with ECU calibration and engine tuning is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
