Mechanical Project Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a capable Mechanical Project Engineer to join their operations team in Paarl . This role is responsible for the successful execution of mechanical engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. You will manage all phases of the project lifecycle, from planning and design to procurement, installation, and commissioning. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical acumen, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to effectively coordinate resources and stakeholders, contributing to the industrial development of the Paarl region.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the planning, execution, and completion of mechanical engineering projects.
• Develop project scopes, detailed schedules, and cost estimates for mechanical installations and upgrades.
• Procure materials and services, and oversee the work of contractors and vendors.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and quality standards throughout the project.
• Conduct site assessments, progress monitoring, and provide regular project status reports.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during project implementation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5-7 years of experience in mechanical project engineering or management.
• Proficiency in project management software and techniques.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, equipment, and fabrication processes.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience in the agricultural or food processing industries is a plus.
