About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Power Plant Operations Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of their facility near Bloemfontein. This leadership role involves managing a team of operators and technicians to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable generation of power. You will be responsible for shift scheduling, performance monitoring, troubleshooting operational issues, and maintaining strict adherence to safety and environmental protocols. This is a critical position for an individual with strong leadership capabilities and a deep understanding of power generation processes within the energy industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct the work of power plant operators and technicians during assigned shifts.
- Monitor plant performance parameters, ensuring optimal efficiency and output.
- Implement and enforce all safety procedures and environmental regulations.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams for planned and unplanned outages and repairs.
- Oversee the startup, shutdown, and normal operation of plant equipment.
- Train and mentor operational staff, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and safety.
Requirements
- National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in power plant operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- In-depth knowledge of power generation equipment and processes (e.g., turbines, boilers, generators).
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and environmental compliance in the energy sector.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends, as required.
