Special Education Teacher

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Special Education Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs at their facility in Benoni. This vital role involves creating individualized education programs (IEPs) and providing specialized instruction tailored to help each student achieve their full potential. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including parents, therapists, and general education teachers, to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about inclusive education, patient, and skilled in adapting teaching methods to meet the unique requirements of each student, fostering their academic, social, and emotional growth within a nurturing school setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special educational needs.
• Provide direct instruction and support to students using specialized teaching strategies and adaptive materials.
• Collaborate effectively with parents, classroom teachers, and support staff to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive student records, including progress reports, attendance, and behavioral data.
• Create a positive, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and self-esteem.

Requirements

• A relevant degree in Special Education or a related field, along with appropriate teaching certification.
• Proven experience working with students with a range of disabilities (e.g., learning disabilities, developmental delays, behavioral disorders).
• In-depth knowledge of special education law, regulations, and best practices.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a strong commitment to advocating for the needs of students with disabilities.
