Process Controller - Mining Plant

About the Role

Our client is recruiting a skilled and observant Process Controller for their mineral processing plant located near Nelspruit . This role is crucial for the efficient and safe operation of the plant, ensuring optimal performance of various processing units such as crushers, mills, and flotation circuits. You will monitor process parameters, make necessary adjustments via the control systems, and respond promptly to alarms and deviations. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of mineral processing operations and a keen eye for detail, contributing to the consistent production of high-quality mineral concentrates.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and control mineral processing plant operations using Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
• Adjust process variables such as flow rates, pressures, and densities to optimize recovery and grade.
• Respond effectively to plant upsets, alarms, and emergency situations.
• Maintain accurate logs of process data, production volumes, and operational conditions.
• Collaborate with maintenance and supervisory staff to ensure smooth plant operation and troubleshoot issues.

Requirements

• Minimum of a Technical Certificate or National Diploma in Extractive Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience as a Process Controller or Operator in a mining or chemical processing plant .
• Familiarity with DCS systems and process instrumentation.
• Understanding of metallurgical principles and the operation of comminution and flotation circuits.
• Ability to work rotating shifts and under pressure.
