Pharmaceutical Process Development Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Pharmaceutical Process Development Engineer to join their team in Polokwane. This role focuses on designing, optimizing, and scaling up manufacturing processes for new pharmaceutical products. You will play a key role in bridging the gap between laboratory-scale development and commercial production, ensuring robust, efficient, and compliant processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong engineering principles, a deep understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple disciplines to bring innovative medicines to market successfully.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for new drug products and formulations.
• Conduct process validation studies and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Scale-up processes from pilot plant to commercial manufacturing scale.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during process development and manufacturing.
• Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams.
• Prepare process documentation, reports, and technical transfer packages.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process development within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing technologies (e.g., granulation, tablet compression, sterile filling).
• Experience with process validation, scale-up, and technology transfer.
• Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) and DoE (Design of Experiments).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement in Polokwane.
