About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead their procurement operations in Nelspruit. This leadership role is responsible for developing and implementing effective purchasing strategies, managing a team of buyers, and ensuring the acquisition of goods and services at optimal cost and quality. You will oversee the entire procurement lifecycle, from strategic sourcing to contract management and supplier performance monitoring. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership capabilities, exceptional negotiation skills, and a thorough understanding of supply chain best practices to support the company's growth and operational efficiency in the Mpumalanga region.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive purchasing strategies aligned with company objectives.
• Lead, mentor, and manage the procurement team to ensure efficient operations and professional development.
• Negotiate high-value contracts with key suppliers to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms.
• Oversee the procurement process, including requisitioning, ordering, and receiving of goods and services.
• Monitor market dynamics and supplier performance, implementing risk mitigation strategies.
• Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders to understand and meet their procurement needs effectively.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, with at least 2 years in a management role.
• Proven track record in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and cost reduction initiatives.
• Strong understanding of ERP systems and procurement software.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement in procurement processes.
