About the Role
Our client is seeking a sophisticated Crypto Economist to join their growing team in Polokwane. This unique role requires a deep understanding of economic theory, game theory, and incentives, applied to the design and analysis of blockchain-based systems and digital assets. You will play a key part in shaping the tokenomics of new projects, analyzing market dynamics, and advising on the economic sustainability and security of decentralized protocols. Key Responsibilities
- Design and model tokenomic systems for blockchain projects, focusing on incentive alignment, economic security, and sustainability.
- Analyze market dynamics, user behavior, and the economic impacts of protocol changes.
- Develop economic frameworks and simulations to evaluate the viability and potential risks of new blockchain ventures.
- Advise on governance mechanisms and incentive structures within decentralized ecosystems.
- Conduct research on emerging trends in crypto economics, game theory, and decentralized finance (DeFi).
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to translate economic models into functional protocol designs.
Requirements
- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Economics, Mathematics, Game Theory, or a related quantitative field.
- Strong understanding of blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies, and decentralized systems.
- Demonstrated experience in economic modeling, game theory, and mechanism design.
- Ability to analyze complex systems and articulate findings clearly.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis and programming languages (e.g., Python, R) for economic simulations is a plus.
- Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills.
