Senior Field Technician - HVAC Systems

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Field Technician to join their dynamic installation and maintenance team in Johannesburg . This critical role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex HVAC systems across various commercial and industrial sites. You will be a key player in ensuring optimal performance and longevity of critical infrastructure, working with cutting-edge technology and providing expert solutions to diverse clients. This position offers the chance to lead by example, mentor junior technicians, and contribute significantly to the company's reputation for excellence in the Johannesburg area.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and commission a wide range of HVAC systems, including ventilation, heating, and air conditioning units, adhering strictly to design specifications and safety standards.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance, diagnostic testing, and troubleshooting on complex HVAC equipment to identify and resolve issues proactively.
• Conduct emergency repairs on malfunctioning systems, ensuring minimal disruption to client operations and restoring systems to full functionality promptly.
• Interpret technical blueprints, schematics, and manuals to accurately perform installations and repairs.
• Maintain detailed service reports, inventory logs, and client interaction records using company-provided digital tools.
• Collaborate with project managers and clients to schedule work, provide technical insights, and ensure project completion within deadlines.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as an HVAC technician or similar role, with a strong focus on installation and repair.
• Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC principles , refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, and control systems.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and hand/power tools relevant to HVAC work.
• Relevant trade certifications (e.g., NTC, Trade Certificate) are highly preferred.
• Ability to read and understand complex technical diagrams and documentation.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the capacity to work independently or as part of a team in various site conditions.
