About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance operations for their extensive vehicle fleet based in Bloemfontein . This critical role involves ensuring the optimal performance, safety, and cost-effectiveness of all fleet vehicles through strategic planning, preventative maintenance programs, and efficient repair management. You will lead a team of technicians and administrative staff, manage vendor relationships, and implement best practices to minimize downtime and operational costs. This is a leadership opportunity for a seasoned professional in fleet management to make a significant impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive preventative maintenance schedule for the entire fleet.
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team, including technicians and support staff.
- Manage repair requests, authorize necessary work, and oversee outsourced maintenance and repair services.
- Control maintenance costs through effective budgeting, vendor negotiation, and parts inventory management.
- Ensure all fleet vehicles comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and operational requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Fleet Maintenance Management or a similar leadership role in automotive operations.
- Strong understanding of vehicle mechanics, maintenance procedures, and fleet management software.
- Proven experience in budget management, cost control, and vendor negotiation.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Relevant certifications in fleet management or automotive technology are a plus.
