About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Game Programmer to join their innovative game development studio in Bloemfontein. You will be instrumental in designing, developing, and implementing complex gameplay systems and features for exciting new game titles. Key Responsibilities

• Design, code, and implement robust and scalable gameplay mechanics, AI, and systems.
• Optimize game performance for various platforms, ensuring smooth frame rates and efficient resource utilization.
• Collaborate closely with designers, artists, and other programmers to bring game features to life.
• Debug and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring code quality and stability.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code adhering to best practices.
• Mentor junior programmers and contribute to team knowledge sharing and code reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Game Development, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in game programming, with a focus on gameplay systems.
• Strong proficiency in C++ and experience with game engines like Unreal Engine or Unity.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented design principles and software architecture patterns.
• Experience with physics engines, rendering pipelines, and network programming is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for creating high-quality games.
