About the Role

Our client is seeking a visionary Lead Animation Supervisor to guide their talented animation team in Cape Town . This senior role involves overseeing the entire animation pipeline, ensuring the highest quality of character performance, motion graphics, and visual storytelling across multiple high-profile projects. You will be responsible for setting the animation style, directing animators, solving complex creative and technical challenges, and fostering a collaborative and productive team atmosphere. This is a crucial position for an artist with a proven track record of delivering outstanding animated content and inspiring creative teams within the vibrant Cape Town arts scene.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct a team of animators, providing clear creative feedback and technical guidance.
• Establish and maintain the animation quality standards and artistic direction for all projects.
• Collaborate with directors, art directors, and clients to ensure animation aligns with project goals and vision.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex animation issues, developing innovative solutions.
• Conduct animation reviews, providing constructive criticism and fostering skill development within the team.
• Manage animation schedules and workflows, ensuring timely delivery of assets.

Requirements

• Extensive experience (10+ years) in 3D animation, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or lead role.
• Demonstrable expertise in character animation, rigging, and motion capture workflows.
• Strong portfolio showcasing exceptional animation quality and leadership on significant projects.
• Proficiency in industry-standard animation software (e.g., Maya, Blender, 3ds Max) and rendering engines.
• Excellent understanding of animation principles, cinematography, and visual storytelling.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to motivate and manage a creative team.
