Pharmacovigilance Officer

Our client is seeking a meticulous and proactive Pharmacovigilance Officer to join their safety monitoring team in Soweto . This role is vital for ensuring the safety and efficacy of pharmaceutical products post-market by collecting, assessing, and reporting adverse event data. You will play a key part in maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements for drug safety surveillance. This position offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to patient safety and public health, working within a dedicated team focused on pharmaceutical integrity in the Gauteng province.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, process, and document adverse event reports from various sources.


• Perform initial assessment and classification of adverse event cases.


• Ensure timely reporting of safety information to regulatory authorities and other stakeholders.


• Contribute to the preparation of periodic safety update reports (PSURs/PBRERs).


• Support regulatory compliance activities related to pharmacovigilance.


• Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., Medical, Clinical, Regulatory) on safety-related matters.


• Assist in the development and maintenance of pharmacovigilance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Nursing, Life Sciences, or a related healthcare field.


• Minimum of 3 years of experience in pharmacovigilance or drug safety.


• Solid understanding of pharmacovigilance principles, regulatory requirements (e.g., GVP modules), and adverse event reporting.


• Experience with pharmacovigilance databases and safety reporting systems.


• Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to manage sensitive information.
