Retail Loss Prevention Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a vigilant and proactive Retail Loss Prevention Officer to safeguard their store in Paarl, Western Cape . You will be responsible for implementing measures to prevent theft, fraud, and other security risks, thereby minimizing shrinkage and protecting company assets. This role requires a sharp eye for detail, strong observational skills, and the ability to act decisively and professionally in security-related situations. You will work closely with store management and staff to foster a culture of security awareness and ensure compliance with loss prevention policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor store activities and customer behavior to detect and prevent potential theft or dishonest acts.
• Conduct investigations into suspected incidents of internal and external theft.
• Apprehend individuals suspected of shoplifting, following company policy and legal guidelines.
• Review surveillance footage and security systems to identify security breaches or operational weaknesses.
• Develop and deliver loss prevention training to store staff to enhance awareness and compliance.
• Analyze loss prevention data to identify trends and recommend preventative strategies.
• Ensure all security equipment is functioning correctly and report any issues.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of all incidents and investigations.

Requirements

• Proven experience in retail loss prevention, security, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of retail security procedures, laws, and investigative techniques.
• Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
• Good communication and report-writing skills.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, and monitor areas for extended periods.
• Knowledge of surveillance equipment operation.
