About the Role

Our client is looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Game Designer to join their innovative studio in Durban. This role is central to conceptualizing, developing, and refining compelling gameplay mechanics and systems that will define the player experience. You will be a key contributor to the creative vision, translating innovative ideas into engaging and fun gameplay. Key Responsibilities

• Design and document core gameplay mechanics, systems, and features for new game titles.
• Create detailed design documents, flowcharts, and wireframes to communicate game mechanics clearly.
• Prototype and iterate on gameplay systems, leveraging player feedback and data analysis.
• Collaborate with programmers, artists, and producers to ensure design goals are met within technical and schedule constraints.
• Balance game systems to ensure fair progression, engaging challenges, and rewarding player experiences.
• Provide constructive feedback on design elements across multiple projects.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in game design , with a proven track record of shipping successful titles.
• Deep understanding of game design principles, player psychology, and interactive storytelling.
• Proficiency in game design documentation tools and methodologies.
• Experience with scripting languages or game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine) is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically about player experience.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, capable of presenting complex ideas effectively.
