About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Automation and Controls Engineer to join their advanced manufacturing operations in Stellenbosch . This role is integral to optimizing production processes through the implementation and maintenance of automated systems. You will design, program, and commission control systems, troubleshoot automation equipment, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of industrial automation, PLC programming, HMI development, and robotics, working within a dynamic environment focused on efficiency and technological advancement.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and program PLC control systems (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) for new and existing machinery.
- Develop and maintain Human-Machine Interface (HMI) applications for process monitoring and control.
- Install, commission, and troubleshoot automated equipment and robotic systems on the production floor.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers and production teams to integrate automation solutions effectively.
- Implement and maintain SCADA systems for data acquisition and process visualization.
- Optimize existing automation processes to improve efficiency, reduce cycle times, and enhance product quality.
- Ensure the reliability and safety of all automated systems, adhering to industry standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial automation and control systems engineering.
- Proficiency in programming various PLC platforms (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000).
- Experience with HMI/SCADA software (e.g., WinCC, FactoryTalk View) and industrial networking protocols.
- Knowledge of robotics, servo systems, and vision systems is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
