Field Service Engineer - Turbomachinery

About the Role

Our client requires a highly skilled Field Service Engineer specializing in turbomachinery to join their team supporting clients in and around Mossel Bay. This role involves providing essential technical support, including installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of gas turbines, steam turbines, and associated rotating equipment. You will be the technical expert on-site, ensuring maximum uptime and performance for critical power generation and industrial applications. This is a demanding, hands-on position for an experienced engineer who thrives in diverse field environments and excels at problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, and overhauls of turbomachinery.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues with turbines and compressors.
• Conduct performance testing and vibration analysis to identify potential problems.
• Provide on-site technical assistance and troubleshooting during equipment failures.
• Ensure all service activities are performed safely and in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
• Maintain detailed service reports and communicate technical findings to clients and management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field service of rotating equipment, particularly turbines.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics.
• Experience with condition monitoring and diagnostic tools.
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and schematics.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work flexible hours as required by customer needs.
