Senior Telecom Systems Administrator
About the Role
Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Telecom Systems Administrator to manage and optimize their telecommunications systems from a remote location, supporting operations primarily in Klerksdorp . This role is pivotal in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our client's voice and data communication infrastructure. You will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of PBX systems, VoIP platforms, and related network components, ensuring seamless communication for all users. This position requires deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work autonomously in a remote setting, contributing to the efficiency of telecommunications services across the North West region.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot telecommunications systems, including PBX, VoIP, voicemail, and conferencing platforms.
- Monitor system performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues to ensure high availability and quality of service.
- Implement system upgrades, patches, and configuration changes in a controlled manner.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and call routing configurations within the telecommunications environment.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures for telecommunications system usage and security.
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for telecommunications-related incidents and requests.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in telecommunications systems administration, with a focus on VoIP and IP telephony.
- In-depth knowledge of PBX systems, SIP protocol, and related telecommunications standards.
- Experience with cloud-based UCaaS platforms is highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) as they relate to telecommunications.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex systems.
