Project Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Mechanical Engineer to manage and execute mechanical engineering projects from conception through to completion in Klerksdorp . This role involves defining project scope, planning resources, overseeing design and development phases, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills coupled with robust mechanical engineering expertise, capable of leading diverse teams and interfacing with stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes. This position offers significant autonomy and the chance to make a tangible impact on key company initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of mechanical engineering projects, defining project objectives, deliverables, and milestones.
• Develop detailed project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, resource requirements, and risk assessments.
• Coordinate and manage project teams, including engineers, technicians, and contractors, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
• Oversee the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of mechanical systems and equipment.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential risks or deviations from the plan, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure all project activities comply with relevant engineering standards, safety regulations, and company policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; a Master's degree or PMP certification is a plus.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 3 years in project management roles.
• Proven experience managing complex mechanical projects, demonstrating successful delivery of scope, budget, and schedule.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in project management software and standard engineering design tools.
