Contracts Manager

About the Role

Our client is looking for a seasoned Contracts Manager to oversee the commercial and legal aspects of their construction projects in Polokwane and across Limpopo province. This senior role demands a deep understanding of contract law, negotiation, and risk management within the construction sector. You will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and managing all construction contracts, ensuring compliance and mitigating potential disputes. This is a strategic position for an experienced professional seeking to drive commercial success and ensure contractual integrity for a leading construction firm in the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate construction contracts, subcontracts, and consultancy agreements.
• Manage contract administration throughout the project lifecycle, including variations, claims, and disputes.
• Ensure all contractual obligations are met by the company and by third parties.
• Provide expert advice on contractual matters to project teams and senior management.
• Develop and implement contract management strategies to minimize risk and maximize value.
• Conduct contract audits and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and company policies.

Requirements

• A law degree or a degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in construction contract management.
• Extensive knowledge of standard forms of contract (e.g., NEC, FIDIC) and South African contract law.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and dispute resolution skills.
• Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or building projects in the Polokwane area.
