Operations Manager - Manufacturing

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Operations Manager with specific expertise in manufacturing to lead their production facility in Nelspruit . This role is critical for optimizing production processes, ensuring quality standards, and managing the operational efficiency of the plant. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of manufacturing operations, from raw material management to finished product delivery, driving continuous improvement, and maintaining a safe working environment. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of production methodologies to enhance output and product quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize all manufacturing production processes to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.
• Oversee daily plant operations, including staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Implement and enforce stringent quality control measures and safety protocols on the production floor.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
• Manage inventory levels for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the production team, fostering a culture of safety, productivity, and accountability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in manufacturing operations management .
• Proven experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
• Strong understanding of production planning, scheduling, and quality assurance in a manufacturing setting.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Experience with ERP systems and manufacturing execution systems (MES).
