Senior Geoscientist - Subsurface Interpretation

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Senior Geoscientist to join their integrated subsurface team in Soweto . This role is fundamental to interpreting complex geological and geophysical data to identify and evaluate hydrocarbon potential, as well as to support ongoing production optimization. You will work with advanced datasets including seismic, well logs, and core data to build detailed subsurface models and assess geological risks. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in seismic interpretation and 3D geological modeling within the oil and gas exploration and production sector. This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to contribute to key projects and drive geological understanding within the Gauteng region's energy landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed seismic data interpretation , including horizon tracking, fault mapping, and attribute analysis.
• Integrate seismic data with well logs, core data, and geological models to generate comprehensive subsurface interpretations.
• Develop and refine 3D geological models that accurately represent reservoir architecture and properties.
• Assess geological risks and uncertainties associated with exploration prospects and development targets.
• Collaborate effectively with reservoir engineers, drilling engineers, and other geoscientists in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related Earth Science discipline.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in subsurface interpretation and geological modeling within the energy industry .
• Proficiency in leading seismic interpretation software packages (e.g., Petrel, HampsonRussell, Kingdom Suite).
• Strong understanding of structural geology , stratigraphy, and sedimentary basin analysis.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly.
