About the Role
Our client, a cutting-edge technology company specializing in advanced power solutions based in Sandton , is seeking an experienced Senior Power Electronics Engineer . You will lead the design, development, and testing of innovative power conversion systems, including inverters, converters, and power management units for high-performance applications. This role demands deep expertise in power semiconductor devices, control algorithms, and circuit design. You will work within a highly skilled R&D team, contributing to the development of next-generation products that push the boundaries of efficiency and performance in the electronics industry in Gauteng .
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-efficiency power electronic circuits and systems (e.g., DC-DC converters, AC-DC converters, inverters).
- Select appropriate power semiconductor devices (MOSFETs, IGBTs, SiC, GaN) and passive components.
- Develop and implement control strategies for power converters.
- Perform circuit simulations and analysis using tools like SPICE, PSpice, or similar.
- Conduct hardware testing, debugging, and validation of prototypes.
- Collaborate with firmware engineers and PCB designers throughout the product development lifecycle.
Requirements
- Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Electronics.
- 5+ years of industry experience in power electronics design.
- Strong theoretical knowledge of power converter topologies and control.
- Hands-on experience with component selection, circuit design, and laboratory testing.
- Proficiency with simulation software and schematic capture tools.
- Experience with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) design and testing is a plus.
